El Cau del Roure presenta “Ilustración Versus Texto”, una colectiva con una decena de artistas que ofreceràn sus trabajos originales y el resultado una vez realizadas las correspondientes publicaciones.El viernes 9 de diciembre a las 19 h, El Cau del Roure presenta esta muestra en la que disfrutaremos del trabajo de una decena de ilustradoras e ilustradores.
Así podremos conocer los trabajos de Álvaro Sanchis, Carmela Quílez, Francesca Ricci, Gianni Franceschini, Iván Alfaro, Jorge Romero, María Tamarit, Miguel Hache, Laura Boj, Lidia Cal y Raquel Mira con sus distintas propuestas que van desde la edición en papel, carpetas, libros, objetos, tatuajes, etc. quienes a partir de las escenas que ofrece el autor de una narración han soñado y plasmado con su imaginación su propia visión enriqueciendo la imagen que como lectores nosotros mismos vamos creado en nuestro inconsciente. Y como no sólo la ilustración acompaña a un texto, se podrá comprobar como en ocasiones es la propia protagonista de lo que se ofrece al convertirse en cartel, cómic, tatuaje, flyer, camiseta, gorra, bol o en cualquier otro elemento de lo que daríamos en llamar Mechandising comercial.Sean bienvenidos estos artistas que ponen su arte al servicio de un texto o un objeto, siempre con el fin de “ejemplificarlo o hacer más atractivo el resultado”, como reza la definición de la Real Academia de la Lengua Española.
Ilustradores ilustres. Dentro de esta muestra y en sección aparte, se presentan ejemplares de maestros como Gustave Doré, José Segrelles, Salvador Dalí, Jean Cocteau, Saint-Exupéry y otros más cercanos: Manuel Boix, Francesc Santana, Joaquín Sabina y otros muchos que nos han introducido en narraciones y textos que a menudo hemos conocido atraídos por la fuerza e interés de sus ilustraciones, que elaboradas en distintas técnicas nos han facilitado deambular por lo escritoUna ocasión única de disfrutar de estos artistas conjuntamente en una Exposición que estará en el horario habitual de esta Sala desde el 9 al 18 de diciembre de 2022.
Erigido como un encuentro de referencia, el Festival del Libro SINDOKMA –cuyo imagen creativa ha sido realizada por la artista Marta Negre— prosigue en su séptima edición su apuesta y refrendo del papel y del sector del libro mediante la presencia de más de treinta expositores, entre editoriales independientes, sellos de edición contemporánea y libro de artista del mapa cultural valenciano y nacional. SINDOKMA contará con una amplia programación de presentaciones, actividades, mesas redondas y talleres infantiles y juveniles, que se desarrollarán en el Claustro y el Aula Magna del Centre Cultural La Nau, a modo de formulación de contenidos a través de los que comunicar la idiosincrasia de los proyectos editoriales y artísticos presentes en el festival. On the occasion of the launch of the new contemporary art space Laboratorio 13 Spazio d’Arte, with the support of Associazione Città Sostenibile on behalf of il Conventino Caffè Letterario and La Corte Arte Contemporanea (Rosanna Tempestini Frizzi), we present “Dirty Pink Florence. Sixteen International Artists”, here in its second edition after its launch at Sporting Club Russafa, Valencia, Spain, in 2021. The exhibition is curated by Tina McCallan (artist and curator), organised by Francesca Ricci (artist) and Erica Briani Pereyra (artist and set designer) in Florence with the technical support of Josie McCoy (artist). Dirty Pink presents a selection of works responding to the concept of ‘pink’ through painting, print, photography, video, performance, installation, NFTs and augmented reality by sixteen artists from Australia, Italy, Kuwait, UK, US and Uruguay. It aims to bring together female artists and create an artistic dialogue between them and their artwork as well as create opportunities for exhibiting internationally in a (still) male dominated art world.We are delighted to be collaborating with Il Conventino to host the second edition, in the historic city of Florence and to be included in the OFF programme of the festival L’Eredità delle Donne (The Legacy of Women) which takes place from 21st-23rd October.
Cartography of Care is an exhibition curated in response to the idea of an emotional atlas. It brings together the work of an international group of artist mothers working across a variety of disciplines to explore how we might map the human experience of caregiving. The exhibition considers the relationships between geographies, maps and emotions and traces the physical and interior journeys and landscapes of these artists: Artworks which explore how the experience of care can be physically mapped on the maternal body, in domestic space, in our relationships with ourselves, and in how we care for others in times of crisis.

PALINOPSIA: JOSIE MCCOY | FRANCESCA RICCI
Como parte de Russafart 2022, The RW Project presenta “Palinopsia”, una selección de trabajos recientes de la pintora británica Josie McCoy y la artista italianaFrancesca Ricci, ambas residentes en Valencia.
“Palinopsia” indica una condición patológica en la cual una imagen es retenida por la retina luego de que el estímulo original ha desaparecido. Aquí evoca el poder y la influencia que la imagen cinemática ejerce sobre la pintora británica Josie McCoy y la artista italiana Francesca Ricci. Ambas artistas, con diferentes enfoques y motivaciones, han utilizado imágenes del cine y la televisión como base de sus pinturas. En esta ocasión, han decidido establecer un diálogo entre sus obras.
Josie McCoy ha pintado retratos de personajes del mundo del cine, la televisión y la música por más de veinte años, desde el comienzo de su carrera. Suelen ser personajes femeninos, pintados en un foco sutil y alejados de la objetivación de la mirada masculina.“…la mujer ha sido usualmente representada a lo largo de la historia del arte, relegada a ser un ‘modelo pasivo’. En mis cuadros intento representar su rol como protagonista, con poder de acción”. Ejecutadas en capas diluidas y finas de pintura al óleo, , sin marcas de pincel visibles, sus heroínas son etéreas presencias que que flotan, creando, con sus miradas, una conversación silenciosa entre ellas y el espectador.
En su serie en progreso ‘Life Stills’, Francesca Ricci rinde homenaje a la cinematografía que la afectó a un nivel personal e influenció su visión como artista. Las pinturas están basadas en fotogramas de sus películas favoritas, que usualmente involucran momentos de tensión emocional entre dos personajes, o marcan cambios importantes en el tono y el desarrollo narrativo de la historia. “Mi elección estuvo guiada intuitivamente por aquellas imágenes que me generaban una respuesta emocional, y las utilicé para construir una estética personal, trascendiendo sus valores visuales intrínsecos”. La pequeña escala de las piezas busca subrayar el aspecto íntimo de la experiencia cinematográfica, donde la gran pantalla se adapta a la mirada individual del espectador, haciendo de este acto un momento privado.
Las obras de ambas artistas presentan un momento suspendido, detenido en el tiempo, en espera de la complicidad de la mirada del espectador, y fijando un instante pasajero en una experiencia atemporal.

On the occasion of Russafart 2022, the RW Project presents Palinopsia, a selection of recent works by British painter Josie McCoy and Italian artist Francesca Ricci, both currently living and working in Valencia.
“Palinopsia” indicates a pathological condition where an image is retained by the retina after the exposure to the original stimulus has left. In this exhibition, it evokes the power and influence that the cinematic image exercises on the two artists, who, with different approaches and motivations, have been using film and television stills as subjects of their paintings and have decided to establish a dialogue between their works.
Josie McCoy has been painting portraits of characters from the world of film, television and music for over twenty years, since the start of her career. In the main they are female subjects, rendered with a subtle soft focus, far removed from the objectification of the male gaze: “…. women have usually been the ‘passive’ subject of art. I aim to present them as active protagonists with agency and power”. Executed in thin layers of oil paint, with no brush stroke visible, her heroines are ethereal, floating presences that weave a silent conversation between each other and the viewer through their gazes.
In her ongoing series Life Stills, Francesca Ricci pays homage to the cinematography that affected her emotionally and influenced her vision as an artist. The paintings are stills from some of the artist’s favourite films, usually depicting moments of emotional tension between two characters or announcing a change of mood or events in the story. “My choice was guided intuitively by those images I could respond to emotionally, and use them to create a personal aesthetic, beyond their intrinsic visual values”. The small scale of the works aims to highlight the intimacy of the cinematic experience where the big screen is sized down to be embraced by the viewer and the act of watching becomes a private moment.
In both artists’ works a moment is paused and suspended, waiting for the viewer to complete the subject’s gaze and fixing that fleeting instant in a timeless experience.
